Let Your Light Shine

Image
Let Your Light Shine: Living Out Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16 (ESV) We live in a world filled with noise, distraction, and darkness. Sometimes it feels like the world is dimming by the day—hope seems fragile, kindness feels rare, and truth is often overshadowed by confusion. Yet right in the thick of this world, Jesus gives His disciples (and us) a simple, powerful command: “Let your light shine.” You Were Made to Shine When Jesus talks about “light,” He’s not referring to something we turn on and off based on how we feel. The light He speaks of is who we are because of who He is within us. Our light is the visible expression of God’s presence—the compassion we show, the integrity we walk in, the generosity we give, the grace we extend. This isn’t about spotlighting ourselves. It’s about reflecting Him. God never intended for our faith t...

John 12:28–32 (ESV)

Image
I have read this particular passage and somehow miss the significance, and amazement of this event. If you think about what took place in that moment, Jesus asks his Father to glorify his name and God showed up! Not in the still small voice, but THUNDER AND LIGHTENING and he spoke with a loud audible voice saying "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."  I can only imagine how the people felt, and wonder if they were terrified like the Israelites were at the foot of the mountain that Moses met with God on "Mount Sinai" Jesus suffered so much for us!  I am learning to trust him in all areas, even when things are hard.  _____________________________ “Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. Now is the judgm...

Perfectly Imperfect

Image
Do you ever look at the mirror or a picture of yourself and see all of your small imperfections? I do, and I have a hard time finding joy in images of myself, because all I see is what the world says are never enough...   too fat, ugly, imperfect in every way, etc. I have a hard time seeing myself as God sees me, but I am working on changing my perspective.  🌿 Perfectly Imperfect: Embracing God’s Masterpiece in Progress We live in a world that constantly tells us to fix, filter, and perfect ourselves—to chase an image that often feels just out of reach. Whether it’s our appearance, our achievements, or even our spiritual walk, it’s easy to feel “not enough.” But God’s Word paints a very different picture of what perfection truly is. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul reminds us of Jesus’ words: > “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” What a freeing truth. Our imperfections don’t disqualify us—they reveal the grace of God at w...

Don’t Look Back: Lessons from Lot’s Wife and Sodom and Gomorrah

Image
Do you ever find yourself longing for the way things used to be?  Far too often I hear those exact words from people around me, and sometimes I catch myself thinking about the way things used to be, or I had hoped would be. Life has not turned out how I had hoped, and I have had to lay my visions, dreams, and future at the altar. He knows what is best for me, and when I start to dwell on those moments of yesterday, and wishing that things were the way things were, I lose sight of the blessings, and the places that he has brought me through and taking me to. How many times do we want to hold on to all to familiarity of what we know and have grown accustomed to, when he is calling us deeper. We stand on the shore and complain that we want to jump in, but don't want to fully immerse ourselves in all that God has called us to. Far to often we stay put out of fear of the unknown, or the what if's, saying I'll stay where I know it is safe and comfortable. Step out today, out of...

Crucified & Alive: Living through Christ

Image
“Crucified & Alive: Living through Christ” > “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20 ESV  1. What this means Paul’s bold statement invites us into a radical identity-shift. “I have been crucified with Christ” means that the old self — flaws, failures, self-reliance, trying to earn acceptance — is laid to rest with Christ’s death. As the commentary notes, Christ is our head and representative, and we participate mystically in His death and resurrection.  Then: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” The centre of life is no longer our striving, our performance, our fear — but Christ Himself, dwelling in us. And then: “The life I now live … I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Our present, everyday living is not by our power, but...

Lord, Have Your Way – A Song of Surrender and Trust

Image
Lord, Have Your Way – A Song of Surrender and Trust (Inspired by Katy Nichole’s “Lord Have Your Way”) Have you ever woken up to a song playing in your spirit? I have on several occasions, and the Lord woke me up with this particular song, and it has been on repeat in my mind throughout my chores this morning.  I recently had some stressful things go on in my life, and it bothered me because it was things that I could not control. I had to talk with a few people to talk through the process, as well as surrender the situations to God.  I have always found my worth in serving others, but that tends to get out of hand. I have had to surrender my time and continue to surrender my control on my life to God. It is not an easy path, and I have lots of moments of not understanding why people say and do the things they do to me and the people I love. I have had to put in boundaries for things that try and steal my time with God, and I am learning to not feel responsible for how ...

Always Learning but Never Knowing the Truth

Image
Always Learning but Never Knowing the Truth In an age overflowing with information, it’s easier than ever to be “always learning.” We can watch sermons, listen to podcasts, read devotionals, and scroll through endless Bible quotes on social media. Yet, the Apostle Paul’s warning in 2 Timothy 3:7 feels more relevant today than ever: > “Always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.” Paul was writing to Timothy about people in the last days who would appear spiritual, but whose hearts would be far from God. They would crave new teachings, chase after clever ideas, and pursue the appearance of godliness — but without true transformation. This verse exposes a subtle but dangerous trap: the difference between information and revelation. --- Information vs. Revelation Knowledge alone doesn’t change us. You can memorize verses, study theology, and even teach others — yet still miss the truth of Jesus Christ if it never penetrates your heart. Revelation ha...
