There is power in a name. We know this in everyday life—names carry authority, identity, and meaning. But there is one name that holds more power than any other: the name of Jesus.

Charity Gayle’s song “I Speak Jesus” beautifully captures this truth. The lyrics remind us that when we don’t have the right words, when the weight of life feels unbearable, and when darkness surrounds us, we can simply declare His name.

Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). Depression, addiction, shame, and fear must bow to the authority of His name.

Throughout Scripture, healing followed when the name of Jesus was spoken in faith. Acts 3:6 tells of Peter declaring healing: “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

When we speak the name of Jesus, we remind ourselves and the enemy that the battle is already won at the cross.

Over Your Family: Pray His name over your children, your marriage, your home.

Over Your Mind: Whisper His name when anxious thoughts or lies of the enemy creep in.

Over Your Community: Declare His name over your workplace, your neighborhood, your church.

Over Your Circumstances: When you don’t have the answers, let His name be your prayer.

Lord Jesus, I speak Your powerful name over every part of my life today. I declare peace over my mind, healing over my body, and freedom over my spirit. I lift up my family, my community, and my circumstances to You. Thank You that in Your name there is hope, healing, and victory. Amen.
