Each name carries weight, meaning, and a glimpse into His character. The Bible reminds us that His name is holy and to be honored above all else: “Holy and awesome is His name” (Psalm 111:9, ESV).

Some of the Holy Names of God

1. YHWH / Yahweh (The LORD)

The covenant name of God revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14 — “I AM WHO I AM.”

This name speaks of His eternal, self-existent nature. He has no beginning or end, and He is completely faithful to His promises.

2. Elohim (God, Creator)

Found in Genesis 1:1, Elohim reveals God as the powerful Creator of all things.

It speaks of His authority, might, and sovereignty over the universe.

3. Adonai (Lord, Master)

A name expressing God’s ownership over our lives and our surrender to His authority.

When we call Him Adonai, we acknowledge that He is not only Savior but also Master.

4. Jehovah Jireh (The LORD Will Provide)

First spoken by Abraham in Genesis 22:14 after God provided a ram in place of Isaac.

This name reminds us that God sees our needs and provides in His perfect timing.

5. Jehovah Rapha (The LORD Who Heals)

6. El Shaddai (God Almighty)

Speaks of God’s all-sufficiency and might. There is nothing He cannot do and no promise He cannot keep.
